I am suffering from the ailment of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (type of blood cancer). I am a student at Skyline Institute of Management (Manipal University), pursuing BBA (3rd year) and Graduate Diploma in Finance.

The first time I got to know about the disease, was in the December, 06. The treatment lasted 5 months.. I never missed my OPDs and biochemically my blood counts were stable. After the first treatment got over, it seemed, everything was back to normal. I was really taking good care of myself.

Being career oriented, I joined my college in July, 07. I even joined coaching for MBA entrance in Jan, 08. By the end of May, I even cleared all the resit exams which I had missed in the past. Then in June, I joined Reliance Capital for summer internship. But in July, it was diagnosed that the disease had relapsed. That was the first time I cried.

The only good news I’ve received in the past two years, is that me and my younger sister Nivedita (student of class 10th) are HLA identical. Thus, my doctor is suggesting a Bone Marrow Transplant.

At one side, I am very happy that God is giving me one more chance but on the other hand my family is facing financial problem. My mom being the only earning member is already under the process of repaying loan which she had taken for my previous treatment.

I have lots to do in my life, not just for my family, but for hundreds of patients who are suffering from this abnormality in their body as I can understand and feel their pain, both physically and economically. Its just that I need a chance and I know I deserve one.
